Paella is a versatile dish of many ingredients, combined together in a single pan. The main ingredient of the paella is the rice with the yellow colour obtained from the use of saffron. The rice provides the carbohydrates we need for a balanced diet. The health benefits of the “Mediterranean diet”have been well documented over the last few decades, with ingredients such as Olive Oil, garlic, onions, tomatoes, green vegetables (green beans), as well as sea food and poultry.
The Olive Oil is rich in monosaturated fat and can also act as a antioxidant including vitamin E.
Fish are high in Omega 3 fatty acids and can help to reduce cholesterol. Seafood contains a high nutritional level of proteins, whilst being low in fat and cholesterol.
Vegetables are high in beneficial fibres, antioxidants and vitamins so together with the proteins from the meat, we can achieve a healthy nutritional balance all in one dish.
